Covenant-
Trilogy of the Horse

About Covenant

Covenant's second edition delivers a fast-paced, astutely crafted, and original tale about a tragedy happening on our public lands every year- the wild mustang herd round ups. This fictionalized account, told through the eyes of Kat McCool, a struggling teen with unlikely origins and Alpha, the lead mare of the Covenant herd which is being hunted by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), takes the reader deep into the developing relationship between Kat and Alpha as they try to protect each other from life’s cruelties. The Trilogy of the Horse series seeks to shed light on the savage and antiquated methods used by the BLM to serve corporate-aligned interests against one of America's iconic national symbols- the wild American mustang. It is a book series every American should read.

"C.J. Goldsmith delivers a compelling story which will grab animal lovers' hearts....This is a tale befitting society today, and perfect for our time." --Selene Castrovilla, award-winning author of The Rough Romance Trilogy.

 Trilogy of the Horse ambassador

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Layuponastar Books ambassador- Pema Tara (JC: Layuponastar) who inspired this novel series and appears in the Trilogy of the Horse as Alpha. After struggling with several comorbid conditions exacerbated by advancing age, the gut-wrenching decision was made to end her suffering on 10/01/2022. This notice is written over two years after I had to make that impossible choice not because I didn’t care, but because I can finally complete this task without falling to pieces. I am confident that when the clear lane over that Rainbow bridge opened up, she charged through it like her thoroughbred ancestor, Man O’War did. We all mourn in our own way, in our own time and I think now I can finally do justice to all the things this chestnut mare meant not just to me, but to her adoptive sister and with whom we carry on the memory of Pema’s most exceptional soul. In moments like these I’m glad I still believe in Heaven which in time, she and I will be reunited.
